The next best thing to sunlight streaming through your office is Verilux Natural Spectrum bulbs and Full Spectrum fluorescent tubes.
The ill designed office characteristically is over lighted and the lighting too often is harsh and glare producing. A better setup is low background lighting supported by localized task lighting. In addition, you can replace standard bulbs, especially fluorescent bulbs, with bulbs that more closely approximate natural daylight.
Verilux bulbs do this by adding missing colors to the light spectrum. The result is a softer, more natural lighting that’s much easier on the eyes and produces far less glare. Colors look more true to life and for keyboard professionals - graphic artists for example - this brings an added benefit.
Verilux incandescent bulbs reduce glare, eyestrain and fatigue and are better for reading. These bulbs to not emit ultra-violet rays. Bulbs come in clear or frosted. As such, they are helpful for individuals subject to SADs (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Fluorescent bulbs do emit ultra-violet rays. Natural Spectrum bulbs do not.
